Fighting The Dengue Battle at Home |
A total of 1,488 cases were reported between January and May this year. While the Town Council has stepped up preventive measures, your support is crucial in keeping this silent killer at bay. Here are some handy tips to fight the deadly mosquitoes:
- Change the water in pots or vases daily
- Some plants such as money plants and lucky bamboos which grow in water, should have their pots flushed under running water to destroy mosquito eggs
- Remove collected water in plant pot plates on a daily basis
- Purchase granular insecticide and add as prescribed in vases, gutters and containers
- Turn over all water storage containers
- Cover your bamboo pole holders when not in use
- Ensure you keep toilet bowls and watering cans covered whenever you travel
- Never block the flow of water in drains among common corridors with potted plants and other paraphernalia
- Keep your surroundings clean to eliminate breeding possibilities for larvae
If anyone you know spots symptoms like persistent high fever, depression, weakness, aching joints and fatigue, seek medical assistance immediately. |

Killer Litter - Dangers Lurking In The Sky |
Living in high-rise buildings means enjoying a great view from above. However, it is from these heights that danger lurks.
Killer litter is a serious threat to the safety of our residents. Leaving objects such as potted plants on window and corridor ledges increase the risk of causing hurt to innocent people.
Don't leave anything to chance. Remove all items from window and corridor ledges now. So as you enjoy great views from high-rise flats, remember not to pose danger to innocent passers-by.
Offenders could be charged and face a maximum fine of $2,000.

Are You Hosting The Next Fire? - The Truth Behind Fire Starting |
Heat, flames, thick smoke and danger all point to one
culprit - a fire. Nothing can be more frightening than
being caught in a situation where you face all these elements,
and have no way out.
Your best protection against fire is its prevention.
Residents have been encouraged to keep vigilant of potential
'fire-starters', defined by objects or catalysts that
can start a fire. Placing unwanted items such as stacks
of newspapers and cardboards along common areas can
raise the fire alarm, as these become dangerous mediums
for fires to spread. So the next time you decide to
dump your unwanted belongings along a corridor, be warned
that you may be inviting the most monstrous of fires
to your doorstep.
If you need assistance to remove these bulky items,

In Search Of The Good Citizen |
|
The art of being a good neighbour in this community
demands for all of us to make a conscious effort in
our daily habits. Being home proud means disposing junk
mail in dustbins, refraining from spitting in public,
or expressing yourself on paper instead of common walls.
There are many ways you can contribute in making your
home a better place to live in. So start your day right
by making a difference to your community. Remember,
every little bit counts. |
