In conjunction with the national Clean and Green Singapore (CGS), Mountbatten CCC and the Marine Parade Town Council will be jointly organising the Mountbatten Town Day 2009 on 8 November 2009 from 9.00am to 1.00pm at the Tanjong Rhu Civic Plaza (Next to Blk 10 Jalan Batu) & Katong CC.

Guest-of-Honour Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, Host Member-of-Parliament Mr Lim Biow Chuan and other Members-of-Parliament of Marine Parade Town will grace the event.

Clean & Green Walk
The carnival will commence with a Clean and Green walk on the Sunday morning, flagged off by Host MP Mr Lim Biow Chuan. Hundreds of Mountbatten residents will join hands in the brisk walk to promote a healthier lifestyle and greener environment.

Spectacles Collection
A mission to help the world to see Gift of Sight (GOS) missions are the outcome of coordinated efforts by a vision care specialist group and dedicated volunteers to deliver eye examinations, cataract operations and distribute recycled eyeglasses to the needy. Providing free of charge to the poor, GOS promotes friendship and compassion while enabling its volunteers to experience the joy of helping others. In collaboration with the Eagle Eye Centre, volunteers from the Lions Clubs of Singapore will be setting up a booth at the Mountbatten Town Day to collect the used spectacles and recycle them to the needy at no cost.

Tree-Planting Ceremony
As part of the green efforts, the Guest-of-Honour Senior Minister Goh and the MPs of Marine Parade Town will plant 7 Xanthostemon Youngii trees at the Tanjong Rhu Civic Plaza, next to Blk 10 Jalan Batu.

Town-Wide Cleanest Estate Competition Award
With our continuous effort and aim to encourage a greater sense of participation of the residents in keeping the environment clean and hygienic, we will be giving out 13 awards to the Cleanest Precinct, Food Centre and Public Toilet categories. These awards aims to recognise all parties, ie residents, resident committee zones, stallholders and toilet caretakers of their contribution in promoting and maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene within the Marine Parade Town.
Other highlights of the event include exhibitions from agencies; opening of the Kitchen @ Katong CC, showcases of upcoming programmes and interest groups offered by the Katong CC.

This weekend of entertainment and activities is bound to be fun for the whole family, so come and enjoy the fun! Your journalist and photographer are cordially invited to the Mountbatten Town Day 2009.
