| MARINE PARADE TOWN CARNIVAL 2007 |
In conjunction with the national Clean and Green Singapore (CGS), Marine Parade Town Carnival 2007 joins in the eco-friendly frenzy with efforts to promote a cleaner and greener environment with activities catered to encourage residents’ participation in maintaining a healthier environment.
The highlight of the event includes the launch of a new campaign “Give Me a Hi5” with the tagline “Give me a Hi5, for a clean and green environment” initiated by the National Environmental Agency (NEA). This campaign was launched by Senior Minister Goh, which serves as a platform to address five key environmental issues, namely, littering, dengue, personal hygiene, resource conservation (3Rs) and energy conservation. A tree-planting ceremony was also held by Senior Minister Goh and the Members-of-Parliament of Marine Parade Town 7 Ke Dong Dong trees at Blk 34 Marine Crescent.

MACPHERSON DAY 2007
Unity and Harmony |
MacPherson Day 2007 shifts away from land and treads on waters at the Geylang East Swimming Complex to celebrate the day where different races come together to celebrate our success as a harmonious nation and society built on a rich diversity of cultures and heritages. Accompanying Senior Minister Goh are the MPs of Marine Parade Town as they toured the carnival site.
The family tele-matches involving residents of all ages was held in at the pool for the first time. Smiles and laughters were seen on residents' faces as they joined in the fun at the carnival site, which were catered for both the young and elderly. |

| GEYLANG SERAI TOWN CARNIVAL 2007 |
One of the events during the Geylang Serai Town Carnival 2007 was the watering of Serai Plants by Guest-of-Honour, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Members of Parliament of Marine Parade GRC to symbolise the nurturing of racial harmony and community bonding.
Residents also enjoyed activities such as the Hippo Bus tour, game stalls and kiddy rides. There was also a presentation of 20 wheelchairs to the needy. The wheelchairs were donated by Datok Dr Tan Hian Tsin, Chairman of Crocodile International Pte Ltd. |

| MINISTERIAL COMMUNITY VISIT TO MOUNBATTEN |
Minister Lim Swee Say arrived at Mountbatten on 24 June 2007, Sunday. Accompanying him was Mr Lim Biow Chuan, MP for Marine Parade GRC as they begun their visit in the heartlands.
His itinerary included visits to the Friends @ St Hilda's Link at Block 10 Jalan Batu, the Kallang Bahru Estate Market, Pebble Bay Condominium and a dialogue session at the Katong Community Centre. Residents had a face-to-face acquaintance with the Minister and ideas were shared. |

BRADDELL HEIGHTS... ....
MY HOME MY TOWN |
The spirit of community celebrations was in full swing at the Braddell Heights where the second Town Carnival of 2007 was held on 24 June 2007.
Residents cheered for their favourite teams at the amphitheatre beside Block 263 Serangoon Central Drive where the national cheerleading competition "Cheerobics" was held. It was one of the Town Carnival's programme highlights. Guest-of-Honour Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Members of Parliament of Marine Parade GRC were also present to witness the spectacular cheerleading dance routines as well as to mingle with the residents of Braddell Heights. |

| UBI-KEMBANGAN TOWN CARNIVAL '07 |
The first Town Carnival was held at Kampong Ubi-Kembangan on 29 April 200 at the open space beside Block 11 Eunos Crescent.
A total of 4,000 people turned up for the event. The event was graced by our Guest-of-Honour Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Members of Parliament of Marine Parade Town.
Apart from the usual carnival activities, some of the highlights include a Vow Renewal Ceremony whereby 88 couples reaffirmed their vows and pledged their lifelong commitment to each other once again. A special transport service named the Tembusu Transport was launched to shuttle disabled and elderly residents of Kampong Ubi - Kembangan to and from medical institutions for their medical appointments at concessionary rates. |

| TANJONG KATONG RENAISSANCE ESTATE UPGRADING PROGRAMME |
Tanjong Katong Estate marks its day of “rebirth” on 31 March 2007 at Geylang Park Connector. Guest-of-Honour Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Host Adviser Mr Lim Biow Chuan, MP for Marine Parade GRC graced the event and unveiled the plaque which marks the completion of the Estate Upgrading Programme.
The event sets itself apart from the usual as it is held along the Geylang River, hosting an alfresco setting in the cool of the evening with on-site hawker-style cooking stalls. Reminiscing the good old times of outdoor eatery, a total of 800 residents were present at the event and they had a great variety of local dishes to choose from.

CLEAN, GREEN AND HYGIENE CARNIVAL 2006
|
In an effort to raise awareness among the residents of Marine Parade Town, Marine Parade Town Council organised its Clean, Green and Hygiene Carnival on 12 November 2006.
This year, a total of 8,000 residents attended the carnival at Block 61 Chai Chee Road. Like previous years, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong graced the event with Members of Parliament of Marine Parade Town.
This is an event where residents of all constituencies come together for a fun-filled day and taking an important role in caring for the environment. A specially designed "All Hands Together" Message Board was constructed for residents to convey their pledge to achieve a cleaner and greener Marine Parade Town. |

LAUNCH OF THE MARINE PARADE RENEWAL PROGRAMME
|
The Marine Parade Renewal Programme was launched on 18 February 2006 at the open space in front of Block 46 Marine Crescent Gardens, in conjunction with the Upgrading Completion Ceremony of Marine Crescent Gardens. The objective of the Renewal Programme is to ensure that residents have the Best Home to live, work and play in harmony.
Residents, young and old, and grassroots joined hands with our Advisers in the launch to signify that each one of us, no matter who we are, have the social responsibility to ensure that our home is kept beautiful, warm, friendly and safe for all. |

CLEAN, GREEN & HYGIENE CARNIVAL 2005 |
Marine Parade Town Council held its Clean, Green & Hygiene Carnival 2005 on 13 November 2005 (Sunday) at the open field in front of Block 122 Geylang East Central.
About 6,000 residents turned up for this once-a-year celebration - to remind ourselves to love our living environment by keeping it clean, green and hygienic. Just like past years, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong (MP for Marine Parade GRC) graced the occassion as guest-of-honour with the company of the other Advisers of Marine Parade Town.
There were activities aplenty to keep the residents entertained as they went from booth to booth to play fun educational games, get their hair pleated, learn to make simple handicraft and learn about dengue prevention through fun and games.
This year, we also celebrated the birth of our very own 'Little Mister & Miss Earth 2005', who would become Marine Parade Town Council's "Little Clean & Green Ambassadors". This proud honour was succeeded by Reiko and Si Chuan, both 5 years old, from Serangoon Constituency. Congratulations to Reiko and Si Chuan! |

CLEAN, GREEN & HYGIENE CARNIVAL
- YEAR 2002 TO 2004
|
An annual event organised by Marine
Parade Town Council, the Clean, Green and Hygiene Carnival
provides a platform to increase and enhance the awareness
of the public in environmental care.
One of the highlights for the event includes exhibitions
on the various aspects of environmental care - recycling,
cleanliness, hygiene, conservation, etc. Other activities
promoting environmental care such as quizzes, telematch,
games as well as performances are also put up to drive
home the fundamental message - the need to take ownership
of our living environment.
Every year, about 5,000 residents from the seven divisions
within Marine Parade Town will gather together to participate
in this meaningful event. Members-of-Parliament of Marine
Parade Town, grassroots leaders, representatives from
the various government agencies as well as residents
come together to do their bit for the environment. |

COMPLETION CEREMONY

Residents of the selected estates have a great cause
to rejoice. With the help of the government, the selected
estates were spruced up and upgraded. More amenities
and public facilities have been also added to enhance
the living environment.
The completion ceremony for the various EUP marked
the smooth completion of these upgrading works where
Members-of-Parliament for the selected estate celebrated
the joyous occasion with residents in an enjoyable fanfare. |

COMPLETION OF INTERIM
UPGRADING PROGRAMME (IUP)

Several Interim Upgrading Programmes in which selected
HDB blocks were selected for upgrading were undertaken
by the Town Council over the past few years. Facilities
such as amphitheatre, covered walkways, repainting and
refurbishment of lift lobbies are some of the features
undertaken under the Interim Upgrading Programme. With
the total sum of upgrading fully borne by the government,
the selected estates under the Interim Upgrading Programme
are transformed into modern and attractive precincts
complete with new recreational and communal facilities. |
