5 Year Development Plan

Marine Parade Town consists of Braddell Heights, Geylang Serai, Kembangan-Chai Chee, Joo Chiat, Marine Parade, MacPherson and Mountbatten. Since 1989, we have had the privilege of working alongside our residents in the Town.

Together, we’ve successfully fostered vibrant neighbourhoods, each with its own distinct identity and sense of belonging.

Over the years, initiatives of the Town Council and partner agencies have transformed our Town into a warmer and more inclusive home where we can live, work and play — enjoying modern comforts within a friendly community.

Silver Zone

Through cyclical maintenance, we keep things working well so residents can live comfortably and safely. Here are some of the works we do:

Linkways, ramps, playgrounds, fitness corners — these are some of the facilities we’ve constructed through our Town Improvement Projects that are tailored to the needs of our residents.

With these improvements, we ensure that each precinct has its own uniqueness and that residents will have a more conducive environment to live in.

As Singapore is a modern city, we believe our residents should enjoy a modern Marine Parade Town with modern facilities.

The NRPs are carried out to enhance our HDB neighbourhoods, improving the quality of life for our residents.

We want our residents to have smoother and safer rides home. That’s why we carry out cyclical lift replacements and improvements, including:

Lift Enhancement Programme
Lift Replacement Programme
Lift Parts Cyclical Replacement

HIP helps to address common maintenance problems of ageing flats, ensuring a better living experience for all.

The programme will include optional EASE (Enhancement for Active Seniors) improvements to enhance safety and comfort for seniors.

To make roads safer for seniors and students, residential areas with a high proportion of seniors have been designated Silver Zones with a reduced speed limit of 30km/h to 40km/h.

Other features to assist our senior residents include additional crossing points and lanes with reduced width to slow down traffic.

This programme develops and upgrades infrastructure in ageing private estates by enhancing their physical conditions and living environment.

Where possible, EUP works are integrated with improvement works by other agencies to better cater to residents’ needs.

Chairman's Message

Marine Parade Town has become a culturally vibrant part of Singapore since its formation nearly 36 years ago, blending a rich heritage with modernity across its 7 constituencies: Marine Parade GRC, MacPherson SMC, and Mountbatten SMC. Each constituency brings its own character and culture, creating a distinct town where the best of the past and future come together, with every generation adding something special.

To preserve and future-proof the unique identity of our home in Marine Parade Town, we are committed to nurturing a community where “WeCare” for our residents. Our WeCare vision is simple: we want to make Marine Parade Town a home where everyone is cared for, from young families to seniors. Whether it’s through small repairs or major developments like the polyclinic in Eunos, the Geylang Serai Cultural Belt, or new MRT stations along the Thomson-East Coast Line, every project is designed to enhance our daily lives as we live, work and play. From playgrounds and fitness corners to Silver Zones, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

We’re also stepping up our commitment to a greener future. Across the town, you’ll see solar panels, recycling bins, and EV charging points as part of our efforts to create a more sustainable, eco-friendly community.

And, of course, there are more exciting projects to come — such as the Sports-in-Precincts at Eunos Crescent and at Pine Close, the HDB Integrated Development at Kembangan, the polyclinic in Serangoon, more covered linkways in MacPherson and Marine Parade, and upgrading works in Joo Chiat, among many others. Sustainability Efforts

Installation of Upcycled/
Repurposed MRT Seats (2-Seaters)

Have you noticed seats around your block that look similar to train seats? Those are old MRT seats that have been repurposed as rest-stops. By partnering with the Land Transport Authority (LTA), we have repurposed 40 sets of old MRT train seats, transforming them into amenities to help reduce wastage while benefitting our residents.

Textile Recycle Bins

In April 2023, 18 textile recycle bins were spread out within Marine Parade Town in collaboration with a private textile recycling company. These bins provide residents with a convenient avenue to recycle their old and unwanted clothes, soft toys, shoes, bags, and hats. Our residents have shown inspiring support, with 226,818 kg of upcycled items being collected from April 2023 to April 2024.

Solar PV Installation

In sunny Singapore, there are many opportunities to make use of solar energy for greater sustainability. That’s why we’ve installed Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels at the rooftops of another 143 HDB blocks within Marine Parade Town, bringing the total to 260 HDB blocks. In the next few years, more HDB blocks within our Town will be retrofitted with Solar PV panels. This initiative is estimated to reduce 11,283,802.69 kg of CO2 annually, equivalent to removing approximately 3,758 cars from the road or powering 6,268 4-room HDB flats each year.

EV Charger Deployment at Car Parks

In alignment with the Singapore Green Plan 2030, we’ve created 77 EV charging points across 35 car parks in our HDB neighbourhoods. In the future, more charging points will be installed to support the increasing adoption of electric vehicles. We’re playing our part in promoting a sustainable living and reducing our carbon footprint — it’s always good to go green.

Deployment of Wood Chipper Machines

As part of our horticultural contract, we’ve included the deployment of wood chipper machines within the Town since August 2022. These wood chipper machines can convert horticultural waste into compost for healthy trees. It was recorded that 93.5 tonnes of waste were reused as mulching within 21 months.

EV Charger Deployment at Car Parks

Litter-picking and Tree-planting Events

Every year, litter-picking and tree-planting events are held across our Town. It’s extremely heartwarming to see our residents actively participating in these cleaning and planting events alongside our Members of Parliament (MPs) — fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility while strengthening community bonds. It also provides the opportunity for us to show our appreciation to our dedicated cleaners for their unwavering efforts in keeping our estate neat and tidy.

E-waste Collection

Through our partnership with ALBA Singapore, as well as the efforts of our residents, we’ve collected and recycled 86,685 kg of e-waste via e-drives, e-waste bins, and bulky waste removal from April 2023 to March 2024.
